Windows reinstall causes games to lag (fixed)
Hello, your friend recently reinstalled Windows 10, but the game performance dropped noticeably. Before the reinstall, they played GTA V at high settings with steady 70-80 FPS. CPU usage was maxed out at 100% and GPU around 75-80%. After a clean install, GTA V ran at 40-50 FPS, CPU still at 100%, GPU at 40%. We're unsure what to do next—tried turning the game on/off, using high performance power settings, checking for overheating, etc. Assistance needed... PC specs: CPU i5-7400, GPU RX 470 4GB, RAM 8GB DDR4 2133MHz, monitor 1920x1080 at 144Hz. No changes made to hardware or settings recently. Update: Fixed the issue—Windows version installed is 21H2, but AMD Adrenalin 22.3.1 doesn't support RX 470 yet, so I upgraded to 22.4.1. Used an SSD from a backup with Windows 21H1 and Adrenalin 22.3.1, which instantly improved game performance.
Manual AMD driver installation was completed and a Windows update check was performed.
Identified the problem and found a solution. The operating system currently in use is 21H2, but the AMD Adrenalin 22.3.1 isn't compatible yet, so I upgraded to 22.4.1. Used an SSD from my backup machine running Windows 21H1 with Adrenalin 22.3.1, which instantly improved game performance.
