Hi guys, I have a couple of spare PCs both of which came ready with Windows 10 Pro that I'm looking to sell. Obviously I want to hand it on with a fully activated OS ready to go but short of creating a temporary offline account I was wondering if there was a better way of doing it. Is there a point in the Windows 10 setup routine that I can safely switch off the PC so that when new owner boots it up for their 1st time, the setup process continues allowing them to configure things as they wish? Thanks.

You could fully erase the storage and then attach a Windows installation USB drive. I’m not sure how to make sure the setup appears afterward.

During Windows 10's language setup, the initial installation window opens. Use Shift+F10 to open the Command Prompt. Enter "shutdown /s /t 0" and hit enter.

Begin by clearing all data in the upcoming phase using recovery tools to reset the device to its original factory state, making it ready for a new user. To apply Windows 10 via "Reset This PC," follow these instructions: Navigate to Settings, select Update & Security, then Recovery. In the Reset this PC area, choose the Get started option and select Remove everything. Adjust settings, enable data erasure, and confirm by clicking OK. Note that if external drives are connected, disconnect them before proceeding. After completion, the drive will be permanently erased, ensuring no files or settings remain, allowing a fresh setup for the next owner. This process may take several hours but greatly reduces the chance of recovering lost information.

Access audit mode without opening Windows, then install drivers and other components you wish. System preparation will follow, allowing the new user to view the setup interface. Pressing the power button can also initiate this process if you only need to shut it down.
