Windows on New SSD issues are becoming a problem.
Hello everyone, a few months ago I purchased a 240 gigabyte SSD from Amazon. Because I was on a tight budget, I opted for the inexpensive Chinese models. After installation, Windows ran smoothly until it would completely freeze without any control options, which forced me to shut down the laptop. When I tried to boot back in, the installation would often become corrupted. You understand what I mean—the drive might be faulty, so I’m considering returning it. I had already asked the seller for a replacement, but they seemed unwilling and simply issued a refund without asking for a return. Now I have a free 240 gigabyte SSD. You’re right about the point of having a bad drive—there’s no point in it. Actually, I’ve been using it as a secondary storage for some time now and it’s functioning perfectly. I’m not sure why Windows works so well with it, but I’m still unhappy with the Windows setup. Can anyone suggest ways to speed up Windows while using this drive as a secondary? I’m still using a hard drive and have received my refund, but I want to make the most of it. It works fine as a regular storage device, yet I feel like it’s wasted. Is there a method to use it as a primary drive without risking corruption in Windows? I’ve tried switching to RAID, using GPT/MBR, and more, but nothing seems to help. I’m currently using some of its space for ReadyBOOST, though I’m not sure if that helps. Could someone share tips on loading Windows files from this secondary disk? Thanks all for your advice—it really means a lot that someone is helping me out!
Don't attempt to cover other drives with windows; it won't assist. Consider listing it on Craigslist or prepare for a reliable SSD.
Store extra non-essential items like games. Keep it simple and avoid selling it—don’t ruin anyone else’s experience.
ah okay, alright. I guess thats the best i could do with it. Thanks guys But I am still wondering, why it works perfectly fine as a secondary disk and goes bonkers if i try to boot from it. Could anyone give me a good explanation why this drive is being so fussy?
