Windows on a MacBook Pro is warming up as it adjusts to the new environment.
Hey there, newcomer. I just got a 2019 MacBook Pro 16-inch with these specs: 2.3GHz i9, 32GB RAM, 5500MHz CPU, 8GB GPU, and 1TB storage. I installed Windows 10 Pro using Bootcamp and added Apex Legends and Destiny 2 for occasional gaming. I noticed something odd—when playing Apex Legends at low settings on a 4K monitor, the fans kick in after a few minutes even though the system is running light. According to HW Monitor, temps are high but utilization seems low. That’s strange. I’ve tried a few fixes: keeping the case open (not clamshell), using the Caldigit Thunderbolt 3 dock, and avoiding external monitors. Leaving the cover open lowers temps by about 4-8°C. Also, running in native 16:10 mode at lower settings helps keep CPU temps under 80°C most of the time. Using a HyperX gaming headset also makes a difference. Overall, it seems the build handles light use well, but high temps pop up when gaming. What’s going on?
Those numbers you're seeing reflect a specific moment in time. The peak indicates maximum CPU usage, likely during gameplay. Keeping Task Manager open on another screen should help you notice the strain. You'll probably see the CPU working harder than usual. Newer MacBook Pros with i9 processors tend to throttle their performance under load because the cooling isn't enough, resulting in lower-than-expected speeds.
