I'm having trouble accessing certain videos. They end with .mp4.pfl, but the instructions aren't clear. I tried opening them but ran into issues.

Yes, VLC should be able to play video files if they are in a supported format.

The PFL files are not actual video files; they are previews or thumbnails. Have you attempted to restore any deleted video files?
