Windows Manager on desktop shows excessive GPU consumption.
I tested this approach. After a fresh gaming session on a brand new day, it took much longer and then happened repeatedly. Then (Today) I realized: ThrottleStop doesn't show GPU throttle information... In fact, my GPU was throttling at 75°C. To be clear, it's a notebook. I turned on the AC in my room, lowered my RTX to the lowest possible (-502Mhz), and it's now around 65-70°C during games. The reason dwm.exe was hogging the rest of my GPU was because throttling was occurring. How could I miss that?
I'm facing the same issue after reinstalling Windows. My Intel HD 5500 integrated graphics are constantly using 100% GPU even when idle. Please help me out.
Hi, I also just registered to add to this thread. I'm also running into this problem where Desktop Windows Manager destroys the GPU usage. I've tried all kinds of fixes. None of my apps (browser, discord, etc.) are using hardware acceleration. I've even tried the registry suggestion in this page . I believe the issue is exacerbated if a particular window has to paint rapidly. I recorded an example of the issue. I casually mine ETH and you can see how much of an impact it has on my hash rate just by having a window open. I use my mouse cursor to highlight the impact. I'm experiencing the same problem on my system. My 3070 Ti is running and DWM.exe is consuming full GPU power constantly. After updating to version 22621.675 ni_release, I noticed stuttering in certain games—especially noticeable with the 3070 Ti.
