I just set up a new machine. I used a CD to install Windows 8.1 64bit and all the necessary drivers. After a short wait, a BSOD popped up warning it was critical. I updated the operating system, but the problem repeated shortly after. I ran diagnostics—no errors found—and checked the disk health, but the system kept restarting after a few minutes. I tried memory testing and OS repair steps, yet nothing resolved it. It seems I’m stuck. Maybe switching back to Windows 7 would be better. Current specs: i7-4820K, X79 Rampage IV, 128GB SSD, 1TB HDD, Titan X GPU, and a new SSD coming next week. The BSOD appears every 15 to 30 minutes. I’m not sure what’s causing it, but Windows can’t recover from the 0% state after waiting.

Execute stress tests to identify potential issues. Check the product page at http://www.passmark.com/products/bit.htm.

This could be a good plan. Please update the bios as well. Is your Windows 8 disc official?

The SSD might be damaged. Consider testing the 1TB SSD.

Initial setup functioned properly then performance declined after the update period. Software was reinstalled upon BSOD recurrence, crash occurred again, and identical issues persisted. Overall it seems to be a legitimate fix. I installed the included program from the Rampage IVs disc despite the BIOS not updating yet. It operates correctly now—has been stable for three months. I plan to repeat the process, but skipped running 3D Mark and 3D Mark 11 which both completed. I didn’t realize the RAM used is 16GB with Corsair Dominator Platinum (2400MHz), currently running at 1333MHz without any changes yet.

The RAM performance is significantly below expectations. Verify the voltage levels.

I'm currently working on the machine you mentioned. At the moment I just updated the Mobo BIOS and ran the burnin test. The results were surprising: the 1TB drive was inside my enclosure, transferring data and my Fujitsu was acting as the second drive. Still puzzled about why it's removable—maybe a hotplug issue? This is my first PC build, so please be gentle. I plan to upgrade the Mobo to X99 once the right MATX board arrives, and the RAM and CPU are ready. Hopefully I won't run into this again. Oops, I think I might have made a mistake. Thanks for your patience!

Really bad issues keep happening. Everything was okay this morning, I just went to work and turned it on. After a while, the BSOD popped up again!

I initially suspected the power issue, thinking it might be due to insufficient supply from other devices on the extension cord. Next, I considered hardware problems but ran benchmarks without encountering any issues or errors. When I accessed HWinfo64's sensors tab, the system crashed. After a reset, the machine restarted and remained inactive for several hours, undergoing benchmarks and troubleshooting. A subsequent benchmark opened HWinfo to monitor fans and temperatures, but the crash still occurred. I'm unsure what's causing it—possibly just an unusual problem or something else entirely.
