Windows isn't starting in UEFI. Preparing for Windows 11.
Hello, I understand your goal. You want to switch your BIOS to UEFI to enable secure boot on Windows 11, but the system isn’t booting correctly. There should be a way for Windows to start in UEFI mode. Let me know if you need further help!
Your boot drive likely uses MBR, so you should convert it to GPT. To verify, run CMD and type: diskpart list disk Any with a star under GPT are GPT. Those without are MBR. Several programs can safely change from MBR to GPT without losing data—look up options and pick the one suggested. I can't suggest any personally since I haven't tried it myself. For me, a clean install with GPT would be better, especially given my past issues with partition changes beyond simple extend or shrink.
Microsoft offers a tool named mbr2gpt that has existed since Windows 7. You can check the guide for more details.
Unaware of this before, nice to learn. Still would choose a new setup with OS reinstall and drive reconfiguration—I've always had trouble with those changes.
