Hello everyone, I’m an IT professional working for a company that prefers anonymity. I’ve faced a persistent issue with one of our systems. Previously, the host computer served as the printer’s connection point. After upgrading our modem for better internet speeds, it stopped communicating with any other device on the local network to print from that printer. Even after relocating the printer to another system, all computers still print through the original host. Now, when I try to move it back, none of the other machines can connect. I’ve attempted to add it via the control panel under Devices & Printers using its host name (like \\desktop1\printer), but I receive an error code 0x000004f1. Despite having the latest drivers and settings configured properly, the connection still fails. I really appreciate this forum for its support and guidance. Thank you all!

The old system lacks static IP but we have an independent DHCP server in addition to the modem. The subnet remains unchanged since the upgrade. I’ll verify the entries carefully, as this could be where the problem lies. Are there particular details I should watch for with a separate DHCP server and modem setup?

Exploring ex \\computer1 displays the printer information only if there is a network connection. Double-clicking the printer triggers the specific error message. The operating system on your older machine and its patch version are important details. Last year Microsoft caused issues with network printer servers that stopped functioning after an update. Do you rely on Active Directory for authentication or allow anonymous access? If you use a separate DHCP server as a modem, disable that server.

Thanks for the feedback. I checked the place last weekend and found the problem with the DCHP Server configurations causing an error in our DHCP Server.
