Windows is limited to installation on GPT disks only
Hello, I'm working on installing Windows 8.1 Pro onto a new SSD, but each time I pick the drive in the installer it warns: "Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks." I've tried making the drive empty before and it worked before. Some suggestions mentioned using third-party tools to create a bootable USB, but when I used those, my system wouldn't even start from the USB and would just say "No Operating System Found." Can anyone explain what's going on or suggest a solution? Thanks in advance, Kevin. EDIT: If you need BIOS changes, I have an MSI motherboard with Click Bios 2.
Ensure no system is locked, then back up the reserver and related partitions. Remove them first, then reinstall. They will appear after choosing your primary driver, not earlier.
No additional partitions exist; only one drive or partition appears in the Windows installer.
During installation, formatting within the Windows installer triggers this issue. The error message reads: "We couldn't format the selected partition. [Error: 0x8004242d]".
After setting up the SSD and removing the USB, the system starts showing the Windows 8 blue screen error. The message says it couldn't finish the installation. This is really annoying, and I'm feeling quite upset about it.
