I started using the system today and encountered this issue: the error message reads "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed." The code is 0xc000000e. It suggests using the recovery tools on your installation. I connected my Windows USB drive, followed the recovery steps, and tried a system refresh. However, it reported that the drive where Windows is installed is locked. After performing a system restore, it still couldn't access the drive. I believe the problem began last night when I pressed the shutdown button. The PC was still running—fans were spinning and lights were on—so I kept pressing the power button until it shut down completely. I suspect a corruption occurred.

Because you attempted a restore, I’m taking it for granted you’ll lose your files. Consider launching the Windows installer and checking if the HDD appears as an option.

It was a tough file crash that happened unexpectedly; I don’t have any advice on fixing it.

Yes, when you install Windows, it typically clears files from the installation drive and any other storage drives you have connected, but it doesn’t affect your other four external drives.

Only the target drive will be affected. Handle partitions carefully, since formatting multiple drives together could cause issues.

It should work then. Verify it appears in the BIOS or Windows installer to rule out a hardware issue. If you have another PC, you might be able to move big programs over before reinstalling.
