Windows installer ends with a black screen due to errors or conflicts.
My PC stopped working due to insufficient power. In my previous topic about games crashing on RTX 2080, I increased the settings in Rainbow Six and restarted after the logo appeared. I attempted to fix Windows but failed. I reinstalled it and began downloading drivers, Steam, and other programs. While installing Steam, another program interrupted the process. After a short delay, my system crashed with a black screen. I tried Windows Auto Repair, which didn’t help. Resetting Windows again didn’t restore the desktop; the screen remained black. Could this be related to a graphics driver issue?
Nvidia RTX GPUs are experiencing problems according to user reports, with issues involving display and fans.
It seems the issue might be related to the graphics driver. I recommend using the Windows installer CD or USB stick, then go to diagnostics and choose safe mode to test. If it functions there, it suggests the graphics drivers are likely the cause. You can remove them using DDU while in safe mode. I recall a similar situation with Nvidia drivers—after installing Windows, the Nvidia drivers would crash immediately, causing a blue screen. It turned out the GPU was faulty or incompatible at that time. The installation worked normally then because the drivers weren't installed during setup.
