Windows installation halts on your PC. Try restarting or checking for updates.
I watched a YouTube video a few weeks ago and my computer froze. I tried rebooting it, but it kept freezing after a short time. After formatting the SSD and reinstalling Windows, the installation still froze. I've used different SSDs now, but it hasn't worked. My system has an ASUS Z490 motherboard, an i7-10700k CPU, a RTX 3070 GPU, and 32GB of 3200 MHz RAM. Anyone know what might be causing the issue? The PC was fine until the first freeze.
Did you perform any RAM testing? It’s fast and straightforward, making it a solid starting point. Next, verify your boot drive on another system (if feasible) to eliminate SSD issues. By the way, I found the urgency of reinstalling everything confusing—sometimes a bit of simple troubleshooting makes a big difference.
This refers to removing a few RAM modules and checking their functionality.
Consider running Memtest using a bootable USB with your current setup to identify any errors. If problems appear, proceed with removing or swapping memory modules to pinpoint the cause. Note: This issue may not be memory-related, but initial testing is straightforward.
CPUs typically don't fail unless they're left unused for extended heat exposure, which seems unlikely here. My next consideration would be the SSD, but you mentioned testing other drives without success. Were they identical in type and connected to the same interface? It's also worth checking if your M.2/SATA connection is functioning properly—switching cables might help.
I purchased a fresh SSD specifically for this purpose. I kept using the same M.2 slot because I only had one. The memory test showed no issues. Someone mentioned a similar issue, but they resolved it by installing a new setup file on the USB drive.
I discovered something intriguing. I removed the SSD and started the Windows setup, then left it running for a short time. The setup became stuck, and there were no SSDs or hard drives connected.
