Yes, you've moved a Windows installation disk between systems, but it's not booting up on the new machine.

I owned both an SSD (purchased) and an HDD in my laptop. I used the SSD for my desktop, wiped it, and installed a fresh Windows 10 there. Now I’m trying to set up Windows on my laptop using the USB or CD from the HDD.

Refers to the old installation media used for setting up Windows. You had it because you needed it to complete the process.

i have three recovery cds. I used one before, but i had to run the toshiba recovery utility, which i can open using an f8 drive. When i try that, my screen lights up and then it flashes again. After installing the first cd and pressing enter, the same happens.

The file or system might be damaged. It's improbable. Were there any other items stored on that drive?

I linked the SSD to my desktop for formatting, but unexpectedly an error appeared there as well. It seems the issue might be with the SSD itself. I have one SATA drive that isn’t in use since it’s showing a warning, so I’ll consider trying that one next.
