Windows installation fails to recognize the storage device.
I planned to start a clean Windows 11 setup on my new laptop, tired of all the extra programs from MSI. While using the installation interface, it failed to recognize the SSD, and neither did DiskPart nor DiskList in Command Prompt. It launches normally since it wasn’t formatted, and the BIOS always identifies the drive.
Why not just remove the MSI program? I'm tempted to debate myself. For a laptop, deleting all branded apps can cause issues with its built-in features. MSI Center also maintains your drivers and special configurations. If you need assistance, sharing your computer model or specs would be helpful. As a quick guess for your issue, if you truly need to reinstall Windows, verify the UEFI settings—whether it's RAID or AHCI. Changing to AHCI will prevent your current Windows install from being non-bootable. You can fix it by searching "Change advanced startup options" in the Start Menu, opening the result, clicking Restart Now, selecting Startup Settings, then Restart and entering UEFI before the system launches. Save the changes, then choose Safe Mode, restart, and select AHCI in boot options. This should allow the installation media to recognize your drive.
