They lack the awareness to disable it when using an SSD, which can actually lengthen startup times. Additionally, you face all the existing issues if your computer has already fallen into a poor condition—just restarting it doesn’t fix the underlying problems. It was worth trying when the system spun slowly, but not useful on an SSD.
Yeah. I understand. I think the Windows underhood hasn't changed much. However, there are definitely many other changes. For instance, DWM in new Windows behaves quite differently from DWM in Vista.
It remains based on outdated kernel and source code, so you can still discover some old components there.
It wasn't what I expected... still the same old content with fresh recycled skins. I just watched a video comparing Vista and 8, but honestly, they were the best. Vista gave me better XP, and 8 was just stunning. I’m still using the Metro style UI on 10—it works perfectly, and I don’t need to switch to desktop mode. The only thing on my desktop is the recycle bin, which is fine.
Yeah, it's not working anymore (though I did install Win 11 beta a while back, but it seems that fix hasn't been applied yet). That's why I'll keep using 10 at least until the new version drops, or I'll switch to Linux eventually. I don't like the UI much, but Linux gives me more control over it, which matters to me.
The main point is that not everything here is beneficial. For instance, storage spaces are really bad—they could wipe out your essential files just because you haven’t used them recently. Also, most of this could have been simple updates like XP or Vista patches; there’s no need for a full new version. Even worse, they kept introducing another less functional interface. XP/Vista was great as it was, but improvements are limited. What they should have done is eventually added a customizable metro UI, letting users toggle it on or off. While XP was usable, the metro version only brought minor changes and still feels clunky compared to modern designs.
