It's the power supply; I checked it and it's broken. Getting it for around £120 would be expensive, and buying a laptop would be cheaper. I'm confused.

Purchasing a laptop seems connected to something else, like ensuring the power supply is fixed within the warranty or opting for a replacement.

Every indication confirmed this. The power source is the core and essence of any system. Without abundant clean energy, you'll face countless unresolvable issues. This is the area where you shouldn't cut corners. They charge what they charge.

But it's not just the power supply; with the £120 already spent, I need a new HDD and SSD because they've shown bad blocks. That brings the total to around £250. Later this month or next, I'll receive a £300 cost-of-living payment, and if I add £200 of my own money, I could afford a good £500 laptop, making the repair seem unnecessary.

Really good items like a laptop are not exactly correlated with the current exchange rate, which is around $530 USD. It seems like most people are just browsing emails or watching videos instead.

I'm in the UK, thanks for letting me know about that. Because of the Windows issue, I need to buy Windows 11 as well. In local currency, it would cost £358.96, while a decent laptop is around £548.00. That means I'd just need to spend an extra £190. I'm also a Steam gamer, handling emails, documents, music, and lots of videos. All in total, including the license.

If you believe this machine can't be fixed anymore, then it seems we've reached the end.

It's not about whether it can be fixed, but the cost of software and parts compared to purchasing a new laptop with upgraded hardware and a Windows license.

If you require something
now,
choose what fits your current needs. If purchasing a laptop is an option, I won't hinder you from doing so. Should you wish to return to the desktop later, you already have everything necessary to restore it to working condition.

Consider whether you need to adjust the laptop's settings or if using it as-is will suffice.
