I increased my friend's 6700k to 4.2Ghz without problems. Then I adjusted the BIOS settings to 3200 and everything remained stable. After playing Overwatch for a while, I tried to further boost it to 4.4GHz in the BIOS. When I restarted, the system displayed a blue screen and entered automatic repair mode. It stayed there for some time before I powered off the machine and reset the BIOS back to default. Eventually, after reinstalling Windows, the issue was resolved. I wonder if 4.4GHz is too high for that processor. There’s no way to confirm. It seems only the second time I’ve ever overclocked it—back when I pushed my 7700k to 4.8Ghz and didn’t encounter any problems, but I could have made a mistake with his setup.

Have you ever handled the BCLK? Only when it rises past a specific level or when auto is disabled can that happen, yet I haven't encountered corrupted windows during overclocking for the 775 socket high, even with elevated voltages beyond safe limits.

only the cpu ratio was adjusted initially, changing from 42 to 44, and this occurred when xmp was enabled.
