Windows fails to start correctly.
I've faced an issue for several weeks where Windows fails to boot correctly. After turning on the PC, it loads to the login screen but then freezes, preventing any login or interaction. The keyboard lights flicker in and out, typically during power cycles, while the fans spin normally. The only solution is to keep pressing the power button for five seconds before Windows restarts smoothly. This problem hasn't occurred before for about three months; it's only appeared in the past month or two. I've attempted a full SSD wipe and reinstallation of Windows, which worked temporarily, but the issue has returned this morning. I've also updated drivers, GPU, chipsets, and BIOS, yet it persists. My system specs include an AMD Ryzen 3600XT, RX 5600XT graphics card, 16GB RAM, Crucial P1 SSD, 1TB B450 Aorus Elite Mobo.
When did this begin? Check for any updates or modifications—hardware or software changes. Look for a previous Windows backup before the problem started, which could help restore the system.
It seems the issue began roughly two months ago. At first, it occurred only during every third or fourth boot, but over time it became a recurring problem each time the PC restarts (except when I powered it off). No new software was added at the start, and even after reinstalling Windows, any potential interfering programs are gone. I don’t have backups of the original Windows version.
For a performance check, try this link: https://www.memtest86.com/. If your power supply is outdated or no longer covered by warranty, consider running chkdsk to see if the issue lies there. This could be the source of the problem, as it seems to be a low-quality component.
