Last evening I performed a BIOS update on an MSI motherboard. MSI finally resolved the TPM attestation issue that was not ready. After the update, the attestation problem was fixed and it showed as ready. Everything functioned properly. Until this morning I observed Windows displaying "Windows not active." I ran the troubleshooter, but it didn’t resolve the issue. The error code 0x8007007B was the one I encountered. I re-entered the Windows key, which indicated a missing valid digital license. Even though I purchased one in October 2022, I realized I don’t have an authentic Windows 10 copy. Interestingly, my PC is running Windows 11 Home Edition. It was active last night and I’m connected to Microsoft using an Outlook email address. My Microsoft account lists the PC as one of my devices. I suspect the BIOS update that added a newer TPM version might be the cause. I moved from version 3.94.05 to 3.94.2.5. After updating, I followed the pin assignment steps. It seems either the MSI BIOS or Windows is having trouble with it. I’ve checked numerous online tips and performed a full PC reset.

I reached out to Microsoft and everything seemed sorted. Still, my computer received an update for Windows Home 11 25H2. I assumed I couldn’t install updates without an activated license. Perhaps there was a glitch with Windows or the TPM update. I tried running slmgr /ipk using my product key—it accepted and activated via the command prompt. However, it reports that Windows can’t connect to your organization’s activation server. I’m confused because this is just a Windows 11 Home edition. It doesn’t appear to be linked to any company network.

The issue is resolved. It wasn't able to connect to Microsoft's activation server. Thanks.
