Hello everyone, I’m dealing with an old HP CompactPC 8200 Elite SFF PC. I’m trying to install a brand new Windows but hit this error: “Windows could not update the computer's boot configuration. installation cannot proceed.” Despite my experience with older systems and previous successful installs, I’m confused about what’s causing this issue. I’ve changed SSDs, used a different hard drive, reinstalled the media creation tool, and disabled legacy boot settings. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

There could be an issue in your BIOS configuration, so consider resetting it.

I attempted to flash the BIOS but received an error indicating it's missing or invalid. I understand you're cautious about risking your computer during this process.

I resolved the issue by identifying the correct 2.28 BIOS files (2.29 was incorrect). I transferred the contents of the dos folder to a USB drive. After launching the PC, I used Esc to access the flash menu and selected the USB drive to flash the BIOS. Once completed, I reinstalled Windows Media and it functioned properly!
