Windows doesn't shut down unexpectedly.
Hello, I’ve skipped the initial part if you don’t want to hear about my ASUS frustrations. A few months back I tweaked some registry settings for custom file types, which mostly functioned well but somehow messed up Windows Update. That’s a different tale altogether. Recently I chose to start over with a clean Windows install. First, I wanted to share my annoyance: the ASUS support is lacking, their software is chaotic, the Addressable RGB driver got corrupted, there’s an incomplete RAID solution on the site for the X570, and Armory Crate failed to install AI Suite. It’s even more confusing than the old AI Suite on my 990FX board, which I had to patch myself after Windows 10 dropped support. My biggest issue was already present before. Still, at 3 a.m. I went for a fresh install in the morning, getting drivers from AMD, NVidia, Intel, and Realtek. To make AI Suite work, I had to use the CD with my board, but I kept an optical drive in my rig because it was the only option that worked. I also downloaded classic AURA Sync since MSI Afterburner didn’t help and GPU Tweak II showed a high CPU usage. In short, I updated BIOS, did two clean installs, and now my PC stays on even when shut down—lights flicker, fans spin, and the drive blinks. It stays on unless you cut power or press reset. The issue seems to be with Windows itself, not UEFI or Linux. I changed the BIOS and switched to hardware RAID, which fixed the problem. The longest shutdown delay was about five minutes, mainly because I didn’t want my system overheating while monitoring it. It doesn’t happen every time after driver updates, but it can happen if I install drivers and then restart. Anyone have a solution or similar experience? Thanks in advance.
