I just added a new 2TB 980 Pro to the M.2_2 port on my MSI X570 Unify board. The boot drive (1TB 980 Pro) in M.2_1 is fine, but it doesn’t appear in This PC. It shows up in BIOS and Device Manager, yet not in Disk Management. I also tried placing it in M.2_3 without success. Someone with experience would appreciate any tips. OS version: Windows 10 Home, build 10.0.19044. CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 5800X. RAM: 2x16GB Crucial Ballistix DDR4-3600. Storage: 1TB Samsung 980 Pro. GPU: EVGA GeForce RTX 3080. Power supply: Seasonic SYNCRO DPC-850. BIOS version: A.80.
I searched online for information about M.2 SSD issues with MSi X570 Unify. Many users reported that M.2 drives aren't being recognized in the M.2_2 and M.2_3 slots, especially when using covers. It seems the BIOS and Device Manager show up, but Disk Management doesn’t. Some noticed a yellow warning icon over the drive. Could you provide a screenshot of your Device Manager and Disk Management for reference?
Thank you for your inquiry. I resolved the issue successfully using a third-party tool named AOMEI Partition Assistant (the free version worked well). It identified the SSD and allowed me to format the disk as NTFS, creating partitions that now function correctly. I wasn’t sure why Disk Management didn’t recognize it, but I could have tried that method instead.
