experiencing problems with your parents' PC where the attached Ethernet cable isn't being recognized. I've tried various cables, restarted the system, and followed other troubleshooting steps, but it still doesn't work. The motherboard is a Gigabyte B450M DS3H running BIOS version F31 with Realtek GBE drivers 2.034. The CPU is a Ryzen 3 2300X running Windows 10 22H2 and 16GB RAM.

You can attempt to download and install the LAN drivers from the provided link. Without internet access, you would need to work on another machine and move the file there. The specific drivers referenced are the LAN Realtek versions with the noted version number. Disregard any further comments.

Hi! If the problem isn't driver-related, consider using a USB Ethernet dongle. If it behaves the same, return it for a refund and check the cable's destination and what it transmits. For example, see if connecting it to a router or switch works—reboot the device or try a different LAN port. Also, verify if the cable passes near any high voltage wires. If the dongle doesn't match, the issue likely lies with the Ethernet port on the motherboard, which is normal once you've addressed it.

After additional troubleshooting, it doesn’t appear to be a driver or cable problem. I used the motherboard years ago with the same CPU and no issues, and other devices connected to the network switch work fine. I also tried switching the physical ports there, but that didn’t resolve the issue. In the meantime, I installed a spare wireless NIC, which is functioning properly.

Likely a worn-out port, possibly damaged or dusty.
