A few days ago my Windows 10 stopped working and the computer died. I had to reinstall it, doing so on a different partition of the hard drive to protect my data. I’m looking for logs explaining why it failed and how to fix it. I’ll share a screenshot of the main folders on the partition. Before it crashed, I pressed the Windows Start button, then the power-off button at my grandma’s house. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated to understand what happened and how to resolve it.

This refers to dividing something into sections. A petition is a formal request, usually sent to a government official or organization. Similar to asking for help from a deity, it's also called a supplication. In everyday language, a petition is a signed document addressed to an official by many people.

Event logs in Windows are located at C:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs. After installing Windows on a new partition, the old Windows logs are stored in your D:\ drive. The updated path is: D:\Windows\System32\winevt\Logs. Edited July 14, 2018 by Hugs12343 Additional details

Now that I reviewed the logs, which records would help me understand why Windows stopped working?

Are you sure this matters now that you have a functional Windows installation and your files are safely backed up? I lack the expertise to troubleshoot issues from logs alone. Perhaps another person here can help, but I’m sure you can review the .evtx files in Event Viewer—it may take some time, but you should be able to navigate through the logs.
