It might happen. More likely since the drive includes its own error correction and prevents writing damaged information easily. If RAM is an issue, the entire system could malfunction.

I previously had a G SKILL RAM before purchasing my Dominators for a Corsair build; it never caused any problems until after I upgraded my RAM. Since then, several issues have appeared. Testing my RAM without XMP on memtest86 shows clean results with no errors across all four passes. Currently, I’m also aware that clearing CMOS and running the PC without XMP causes it to lock up—mouse movement stops completely and I need to perform a hard reset.

Commas helps reading a lot, use them. I'm not sure if this is ram problem or not, but testing computer with single ram stick is always recommended when you're experiencing problems. It's just faster than hours of memtest. And you should test your ram overclocked if you want to use it with oc.

Yes, a faulty motherboard can lead to these problems.

Everything is possible, yet certain components are more likely than others. Focus on doing less rather than asking too much—try simple approaches like single RAM stick testing and second drive installation, while opting for the pricier ones such as motherboard and CPU. Make sure to verify all connections (SATA, power) before proceeding.

Sure, I'll give it a shot when I'm off work.

Certainly. It depends on the situation.
