So two times I reinstalled Windows in just a few days. The first was Windows 10, and then Candy Crush plus many other nice phone apps would pop up automatically on my computer. I told myself "fine, I already have a Windows Server copy, they won’t do that." But what’s the connection between Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016? Now I’m in an area with very limited internet access—almost all my bandwidth is used up. While Windows is doing this, I can’t play Discord, run online games, or load websites. I keep closely monitoring my internet use, blocking many items in the Windows firewall (like NVIDIA telemetry) to maintain smooth performance. I’m running out of ideas; I’ve tried OOSU and similar tools, but if this PC wasn’t for gaming, I’d prefer a Linux-based system 100%. My internet just can’t handle the background activity Windows is handling. Good news: I haven’t seen Candy Crush or those other apps since switching to Windows Server!

Adjust your link to "metered." It seems you might not be able to change it directly on the server.

You can achieve this on Windows Server by modifying a registry key. I located the key and made the changes. I'll follow up soon to confirm it resolved the issue.
