Windows Clean Install key missing, but appears in BIOS settings.
I don’t have a recovery disk available, so I can’t perform a factory reset. I understand the Windows key is now in the BIOS, but where should I obtain the .iso file for a clean installation? I’m aware that a Windows ISO will need a key, so I’m unsure whether I should enter it or accept it as OEM. Also, just a note: this is Windows 7.
It seems you're wondering about using a Windows ISO without a product key. You can find more details at the Microsoft download page and other reputable sources. Be cautious with links from third-party sites, as they might not be safe. Always verify the origin to avoid risks.
I could be mistaken but I believed Windows 7 activation codes were on a label at the bottom of the laptop while Windows 8 and later were built into the BIOS. If they’re in the BIOS, just bypass the entry field and it should install automatically.
It seems it was Windows 8 then. I’m not sure how to find the ISO file. From what you mentioned, entering the key might help, and others with similar issues have faced the same challenge.
