I understand and might find it workable, though the guides I saw seem to complicate things with terms like 'driver isos' and similar stuff. Hyper-V is a tool or? I assumed I’d need Virtual Box, which honestly feels like a lot of hassle for my needs.

Hyper-v is a software that manages virtual machines and comes pre-installed on Windows. If you have it, use it; otherwise, VirtualBox can serve as an alternative.

Set up a 32-bit Windows version of any type on an affordable 128GB SSD, and it should function. Windows 7 or Windows 2000 Pro usually perform well, though avoid using Windows 2000 for internet tasks.

Windows backward support stands out, yet over time it becomes common to encounter older software from a few years prior that no longer functions. Testing on different platforms can reveal performance differences. Apple has experienced three major compatibility issues during that period.

I think that was the initial intention, although it’s not just unpleasant and malicious. They never actually implemented this feature, and there are many older AAA titles that you can’t simply repurchase for a win 10. Even then, there’s no real reason to do so. Also, the security concerns are significant—why let drivers be re-enabled in older versions? That sounds like a fabrication or exaggeration to me. Microsoft’s response explained that the DRM system is deeply integrated into the system, and Windows 10 refuses it because it could create a vulnerability for viruses. This is why some games from 2003 to 2008 with Securom or similar still need a CD patch to run. We just can’t support those if they pose a risk. There are patches from developers and platforms like GOG that offer working versions of those titles. The real question is why they chose to allow it in the first place and why they didn’t prioritize fixing the issue.
