Windows aims to activate Dolby Vision on the LG C2 during each startup.
Hey there, just got back after a week away. When I powered on my PC and applied the latest Windows Update, my LG C2 suddenly switched to Dolby Vision mode. I really wish Windows would support DV properly, but the colors look distorted and greenish everywhere. Turning HDR off and back fixes it. It’s not a big problem, but I wanted to see if anyone else has had this issue and found a solution. From what I know, DV doesn’t work on Windows, even with Edge or the available extensions. Cheers!
Same Windows I used five days ago is now being targeted by DV. Just installed the newest Nvidia drivers and it's the same issue.
Interesting. I'm using regular stable Windows 11 with full updates on an LG C2, and I haven't experienced these problems before. It might be something in the settings somewhere.
Noteworthy to notice clear DV support in the display control panel. If what I'm seeing is similar, then it's definitely a solid update! It brings back memories of the Win10 Creators update that disrupted HDR.
It refers to the colourspace configuration. C4 and higher support Dolby Vision PC with full-RGB 4:4:4 colour space. The default Dolby Vision mode is YCbCr 4:2:2, but the C2 expects 4:2:2 YCbCr input while receiving 4:4:4 RGB, causing colour issues. A Dolby Vision PC setting is required for the C2.
Yeh, but I also believe it's an MS issue. A fairly recent Windows patch that now reveals 'Dolby Vision Mode' inside the HDR options, but it only works on certain screens. I've noticed similar cases recently, mostly affecting LG C2 users. My CX and my older C6 are working fine. Switching DV mode on and off in Windows HDR settings seems to resolve the problem. For me and others, DV mode stays active even when disabled in Windows. It's not a huge concern but another sign of incomplete Windows updates reaching the market.
