Failed again, tried Windows update. The system handled the issue and crashed during repair. I also attempted a system reset via DVD, but it refused to refresh because of an error. Now that I have an SSD, this Windows 8 version is completely failing.

It's a pirated copy, and it seems quite flawed. I recall a similar issue I faced. Just insert the DVD, begin setup, and when prompted about what to keep, select personal data or Windows settings—this will reinstall Windows without losing your files. I suggest opting for another version instead.
