My defender suggested a critical Windows update last night, which I applied. Since then, my experience with Mw3 has been unstable—random freezes requiring a restart. This issue has occurred multiple times, both during gameplay and when I escaped in-game. Could the update be responsible?

Are you referring to the latest Windows update or the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 8? Your Windows 8 was working well after installation, but it began acting differently today following the update.

CPU overclock problem. Voltage mode unexpectedly switched to manual at 1.0 volts... unclear cause, but restored and freezing issues resolved.

This update actually blocked my entire operating system from appearing. After updating and restarting, the Start Screen would disappear completely, then I’d need to reinstall Windows multiple times, but once the update was applied, it would reappear. Eventually, I ended up back on Windows 7.

I solved it myself. The CPU voltage was accidentally adjusted to 1.0 volts instead of the correct 1.25 adaptive after the update. I don’t remember exactly how it happened, but it’s fixed now.
