No one received a start menu in this update. The other modern UI applications stayed in the taskbar, and there are no newer releases. It's quite bothersome...

It will be available in a future update. This version also supports running applications on the desktop.

You're already using "modern" applications on your desktop. I tried this yesterday with a PDF reader; it displayed like a transit app but had close and minimize options in the top right corner. The window can't be resized, which might be planned for later, but you can still run them.

This change will actually run applications directly on your desktop. Similar to Firefox, Notepad, or Word.

Consider executing applications on Windows instead of limited screen sizes such as full, half, or quarter, making the experience easier for users who rely on keyboards and mice.
