Hello, your aunt’s Dell laptop has Windows 8/8.1 installed, but it’s showing an activation issue due to a blocked product key and error code 0xc004c003. You can try reinstalling the Windows installation or using a valid product key from the official source to resolve the problem.

The only way to turn it on is by purchasing a genuine key. I’m not sure where to find one, but you might consider KMSpico if you really need that specific version of Windows 8. However, I don’t suggest it because it changes the registry to skip activation, which is essentially piracy—your choice!

If the laptop is brand new, you might be able to lodge a complaint with Dell, but their chances of actually helping are low these days.

The system is already set up with Windows 8/8.1, which means it shouldn't be pirated.

Consider this option only if necessary—it exists, so Windows can recognize the OEM key stored in the BIOS.

Purchase one on eBay. I recently bought one for Windows 10 for $10, which upgraded me to Pro. Who would've thought? This approach isn't the same as buying your own license, and you risk having to reactivate Windows at any time—though that's not illegal. As a lawyer, I'd advise you (or vice versa).
