You're looking at a tough choice between Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 for gaming. Both have pros and cons, but if you're a gamer who's already on Linux, switching to Windows 8.1 might offer better performance and features tailored for gaming. Just keep in mind that Linux is great for customization, while Windows 8.1 could provide more stability and support for your current setup.
Windows 8 should offer marginally improved speed, but if you already have a Windows 7 license, I recommend waiting until you receive your free upgrade to Windows 10 later this year. Also, from my perspective, Windows 8 can be quite frustrating to use, so I’d prefer a more pleasant interface even with minor performance gains. This is just my view.
Installing Windows without a license key means using the registration code instead. Are you thinking about purchasing another license, or do you no longer have your Windows 7 activation code?
I often look at his setup since he uses Windows 8.1 for work. It really appeals to me. He’s the only one who appreciates the interface!
