It's somewhat permissible, but I wouldn't take the chance. Their MSDN keys will likely expire within a year or two.

I know a lot of folks that did in on the forum and there is giant thread about it. It works. And I think that Windows is overpriced for what it is so If you don't really have the money for it (without losing a lot of performance) go ahead.
