I was attempting to upgrade my girlfriend's laptop to Windows 10, but the 8.1 activation wasn't working. I tried activating it and received a KMS error, which prompted me to wait. After several attempts, I followed the troubleshooting steps but nothing resolved it. Now I'm unsure how to proceed with activation.

Are you reaching out to Microsoft support? The system is functioning on that machine.

interenet is fine, they have been using it for years and i had it plugged in directly to the router

At that time, I had to execute the activation with admin privileges. That resolved the problem for me.
