I've been using Windows 8.1 for about three weeks now, and it's been working well until roughly three days ago when it began freezing frequently. I'm not sure what's causing the issue, but I've reinstalled all major drivers and run cleanup programs, yet it keeps happening.

Have you considered reaching out to the Microsoft support team?

Yeah...my Windows 10 version began acting that way after about two weeks, then it stopped and has been back a bit lately. I don’t know if it’s normal... I’d have liked to switch to Windows 7 ;D

Did you perform a fresh Windows 8 setup or upgrade from Windows 7? Occasionally, during an OS upgrade, the Windows Boot Manager encounters difficulties and leads to similar problems. My girlfriend’s notebook experienced the same issue, requiring a full SSD formatting and a complete reinstall of Windows 8 to resolve it. Reminder: There are also occasional slowdowns, loading errors, and unexpected crashes.

Windows 8/8.1 generates a separate partition for the Boot Manager, but during an upgrade it causes issues and introduces many complications.

I suggest using an SSD setup and performing a fresh Windows installation. This should resolve all issues entirely. Be sure to remove every partition from the old SSD before starting. Windows 8/8.1 needs a blank, unallocated disk to install on.
