Windows 7 remains widely used while Windows 8 was introduced as a redesign. Windows XP and Vista are older versions still in service.
Windows 8 and 8.1 faced some challenges when they launched, but once you got used to the new system, you wouldn’t want to go back to Windows 7. Windows 7 isn’t terrible, but support is dwindling, especially after the release of Windows 10. If you have the opportunity to upgrade for free, it’s worth considering. Gaming works just fine in Windows 8, performing similarly to Windows 7, and it’s been enjoyable. Looks like Windows 10 is on the horizon.
