I just upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 8 Pro 64Bit and everything functioned properly until the 147 important updates were installed. Now the system restarts and appears to be working, but it’s completely malfunctioning. It launches the normal desktop instead of the Metro interface, and no other applications launch. There’s no mouse cursor; it only responds to Ctrl+Alt+Del, which leads to a black screen. I’ve also reset the system and performed a clean reinstall, but the issue persists after updating. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

It seems you're looking for advice on operating systems. You might want to keep Windows 7 if it's still available or move to Windows 10. Avoid Windows 8 if you prefer.

I plan to switch to Windows 10. The goal is to obtain a Windows 7 to Windows 8 upgrade key so it functions as a genuine operating system key. I followed the instructions and installed what seemed essential.

I'll attempt to restart the system once more. Please let me know if it succeeds.

You need to install Windows 8.1 first, which requires all the necessary updates. Using Windows 7 for the upgrade wouldn’t be possible since it wouldn’t recognize your current key.

You switched from Windows 7 to 8, then to 8.1, and are planning to move up to Windows 10. Sounds like a fun tech journey! LMAO
