I just installed it directly from the disk in Windows 7. Are there alternative methods for installation? Like how it was done during the original setup on your PC?

Copying is supported and you can perform a scan once the files are copied to verify all items are present.

I often hear this (because I frequently reinstall OS): New is better.

Most files except the BF4 are stored on your SSD, not the boot drive. You won’t need to reinstall them. Also, nothing on your HDD will be deleted.

All items except the BF4 are saved to my HDD, which isn’t my main boot drive (my SSD is). I won’t need to reinstall them, right? Also, nothing on my HDD will be deleted?

Begin with a fresh setup. Avoid running any format steps during installation; your files will go into a folder named Windows.old at the root of the C drive. From there, you can switch to your personal directory and move back files. You must reinstall all software again. After completing this, perform a disk cleanup, choose the option after the first scan labeled "Clean up system files," which will re-scan the C drive and locate Windows.old for removal. You cannot delete the folder directly from Windows Explorer. For other drives not used as the boot device, you’ll still need to download and reinstall programs—including your BF4.

To be precise, I need to reinstall every game stored on both my SSD (boot drive) and hard drive, along with items like Sony Vegas Pro. What will become of all my images and those on my HDD?

You might need to do that. Most Steam versions won’t require much work because you can back up everything and remove them. Once Steam is installed, you can simply restore them. Saving your progress this way saves time and effort.

It could serve as a boot disk to launch the installer directly, though I recall doing the setup on Windows 7. I noticed my files stayed intact after the update without the old folder, and I think I used the method you linked: http://www.gigabyte.com/WebPage/104/step-upgrade.html

When you set up Origin New, you can specify a location for saving BF4 so the app identifies the other files correctly. Alternatively, you can move them to another folder and re-upload them during download—this method has proven effective, making it simpler than using Steam.
