If I already had Windows 7 (as I do) I wouldn't spend the money to upgrade. If I were buying a new license, I'd go for 8.1. It's much-maligned UI issues can be worked around, and the underlying OS has quite a few useful improvements over 7. Windows 10 looks and sounds like it will be worth having, but we'll see about that when it's released. I'll probably wait a few weeks to see if there are any serious launch issues before I make the jump. We have a year for the free upgrade, so why rush? Early adopters are suckers!

8.1 is currently the top choice. I believe it will improve after the initial updates or two.
