Thanks for the input. I understand you need to retain access to 4 GB before purchasing additional storage. I'm working on that while saving up funds for a fresh setup.

Mainly distinct hardware components allocate memory for their own use. Page files belong to the operating system, allowing Windows to recognize available memory.

If everything is set correctly, the 4/4 format will be ready. Including another 4 could display it as 8.0GB or 7.62GB. Review System Configuration - Boot - Advanced options and ensure none of the checkboxes are selected. It seems the query should actually ask if your PC has built-in graphics. Even when not in use, the system keeps memory allocated for it unless you disable built-in graphics in the BIOS.

It’s hard to show exactly how much free space you have because the system keeps a portion for hardware needs. Even though you installed 16GB, only about 15.2GB is accessible. Around 794MB is set aside by the operating system.

Thank you for the responses. I’ll verify the integrated graphics settings before arriving home. If they’re not enabled, I’ll consider an upgrade.

The platform doesn’t allocate memory reserves; actually, no contemporary OS keeps memory set aside. He likely uses built-in graphics or an integrated processor that consumes resources. You might recover each megabyte by understanding your UEFI settings.

The RAM is held by the operating system. You can adjust the amount in the BIOS, though the difference will be minimal with just 4GB available.
