Hello everyone, I'm developing new computers for a nearby school and was replacing the main drives during an upgrade. I found some systems still running Windows 7. I’m currently swapping the old hard drive into a brand-new build, but I know those Windows 7 OEM models are linked to the motherboard. If I just use the Windows 10 upgrader, can I install a new motherboard and then move all the files over, or do I need to create a completely fresh copy of Windows?

Executing the Windows 7 upgrade will require the same duration as performing a complete reinstall of 10

Avoid the chance of a messed-up setup or a glitchy game due to the outdated 7 install version.

Are you aware of the optimal method to remove all files by simply copying the program and documents folder?

You'd want to preserve the program files to retain your custom settings and ensure smooth operation after installation. Keep any necessary files and install Windows 10 for a seamless experience.

Usually things are straightforward, but they store everything in unpredictable spots and change where each app’s folder goes. That made it hard to figure out the right approach.
