Performance is marginally higher on Windows 8.1 compared to 7, though the gap is minimal—especially with a powerful GPU. If you're using a standard HDD, installing Windows 8.1 offers quicker startup and a more responsive experience. For an SSD, choose whichever aesthetic you prefer; either will eventually receive free upgrades to Windows 10.
