I favor Windows 8.1 because of its quicker launch time, improved speed, and superior multi-monitor handling (the ability to keep a taskbar visible across all screens is very appealing, and I haven’t found any program that matches the Windows 8 experience).

There’s no valid excuse for purchasing Windows 7. It simply doesn’t hold up to modern standards. Windows 8/8.1 outperforms it across all metrics, making Windows 7 obsolete.
