Windows 7 or 8.1?
Windows 7 or 8.1?
They say 8.1 works well, yet some argue it doesn't play smoothly with certain games.
Windows 8.1 was a welcome upgrade after the initial issues; using Classic Start made everything feel smooth and fast without any hiccups. I corrected my note to refer to Classic Start instead of just Windows 8.1.
I've been using Windows 8.1 for more than six months. Installing a free app to make it look more like Windows 7 with a classic Start menu is acceptable. I strongly dislike Metro personally. The trial version lacks many features compared to what the paid version offers, and the full one is quite expensive—around $3, which isn't too bad. There are still other options available.
Windows 8.1 stands out as the quickest and most reliable release ever. I haven’t faced any problems with game compatibility, and I’ve been using it for over a year now.
I favor Windows 8.1 instead of Windows 7 mainly due to faster startup times. My system boots in roughly 11 seconds on 8.1, compared to about 25 seconds on 7. I haven’t experienced any problems with it—no crashes, no freezes. It’s clearly a significant shift from using Windows 7.
others will choose what feels right for them. I prefer windows 7 since it has custom modifications that enhance its appearance and my setup isn’t dependent on stock updates. I don’t need windows 8.1 because it doesn’t suit my needs, and I’m not eager to start fresh with a weak foundation. Also, many older games work better on 8 but can be adjusted easily—probably if you’re even somewhat tech-savvy. Back then, the situation was similar on 7 as well.
