I understand and matched your choice. You still have until July to decide, so reaching 7 out of 10 makes sense—it's also more affordable.
Modding should function perfectly. Both installing and building it are smooth. Successfully tested a few Skyrim mods, and it performed well. Currently pending GECK's Fallout 4 mod support.
I can't provide direct download links, but you can find a Windows 7 Professional 64-bit ISO by visiting the official Microsoft website or reputable software distribution sites.
I received it straight from Microsoft, but you must have a product key first (I just removed one from an old computer). Alternatively, you could visit a torrent site as suggested by @Blebekblebek since the ISOs aren't illegal to download from anyone—what matters is the keys.
LOL What? This is just as bad as the claim that people were saying back in Vista, where Vista would block all MP3's from playing. Man the crap that those anti-MS group comes out with to create fear, in the hope you switch to MacOS or Linux based OS. Wow. You have to be careful with the amount of crap is said on the web. Anyway, you can do what you want in Windows 10, like under Windows 8, and Windows 7, with the exception of drivers, where if your drivers are old, Windows update will force install the latest one (there is a tool from Microsoft to hide the update until next version is released). The problem is that Microsoft is sick and tired with people refusing to install Windows updates, including not upgrading Service Packs, sticking with the clearly inferior Windows 8 instead of upgrading to 8.1. Biggest problem is when you have these people never updating Windows, and they are infected with malware/virus, and their computers are now a bot, infecting others, being part of DDOS attacks, and Microsoft, despite releasing a fix to remove the infection and fix the security hole which the malware uses, can't, because people don't just blocks updates. It is a serious problem, sadly, so because of these people, it is forced updates for everyone.
Windows 7 still holds value. Today’s version of Windows 10 is less compatible with older systems compared to its predecessor. Microsoft plans to stop supporting Windows 7 around 2020, marking the end of its active lifecycle. The main distinctions between Windows 10 and 7 are minimal, with most changes favoring Windows 7. Once Windows 7 reaches the end of its support period, many of its features will also disappear, since the essential components remain similar across both platforms. For gamers, Windows 7 offers stronger compatibility with a wider range of titles at this moment, and it continues to provide solid game support that keeps it relevant alongside Windows 10. The strong community around Windows 7 is often misled by exaggerated comparisons on forums, especially by those who favor Windows 10. I personally use both OSes, but have found Windows 7 to be more user-friendly, with a cleaner design and fewer restrictions. Both are nearly identical in functionality, but Windows 7 edges out in usability and layout. The main downside of Windows 7 is its lack of modern security updates and the absence of free technical support, which Microsoft has discontinued. It’s surprising how much misinformation circulates about these operating systems on online communities.
It needs to be genuine, and if it's already turned on, you must turn it off on the device it came from (as happened with me). Otherwise, just download the ISO file and enable it using the key during installation.
