On my desktop, I have several HDDs each with an OS installed. When I want to perform a task, I only connect the specific drive. Using Windows 7 with a USB flash drive causes it not to appear on the screen. The issue isn't related to one particular drive. I've tried three different flash drives in all USB ports but got no results. When I move these three drives to another desktop or my laptop, they work perfectly. Conversely, if I remove the Windows 7 HDD and install another drive (like Windows 8 or Ubuntu), all drives function without issues.

P.S. The fix isn't to open "My Computer" -> Manage -> Disk Management and assign a letter. That approach doesn't work because when I connect a flash drive, right-clicking "My Computer" doesn't show the menu. Windows/System won't freeze; it just pauses until I disconnect the flash drive, after which I can resume my work.

Could you assist me, John? Thank you!

I've reviewed it. The update succeeded, though it wasn't the answer you were looking for.

Perhaps try connecting the USB when the laptop is off, then power it up and see if it appears in the BIOS setup. If yes, proceed to update Windows. Next, attempt to format the drive on another computer and then connect it to your laptop. Finally, test other USB devices on your laptop. If nothing works, verify whether the USB is functioning at all.
