Windows 7 issues on Skylake system
I recently purchased and assembled a Skylake platform, but my Windows 7 boot drive keeps showing a BSOD upon startup. I’m struggling because my research mainly covers Skylake issues and legacy USB support, not this exact problem. Should I switch to Windows 10 on my old hardware, transfer the boot drive to new hardware, or ask Microsoft for activation? Is it possible to perform a fresh Windows 7 installation on the Skylake system and then upgrade to Windows 10? Can I install Windows 7 using an external USB DVD drive instead? I’m really unsure how to proceed.
This happens because Windows is trying to load drivers from your previous hardware. You should either reinstall Windows (this is recommended) or check out the guide in my signature on how to make a bootable disc/USB called Paragon that will clear the drivers, letting you start in Windows.
